HELLO. 0.4 is here. FINALLY!

I won't waste your time with my incessant rambling if you aren't interested. Just take the links! (But I would REALLY like it if you took the time to read what I have to say this time!)

As before, please don't fill out or even look at the feedback form until you've actually played through the whole update!

Oh... And I have a donation page setup. It's ko-fi. I explain this more below, but here is the link:

My Ko-fi

Now... Onto the rambling:

This update is HUGE... YOUR OLD SAVE WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS UPDATE. It couldn't be helped, and I apologize. This should not have to happen again unless I remove exhaustion. Though, as always I have included a save that continues where the game left off in the last update.

Overall, no matter what happens... I am very proud of this update! Expect new enemies to have a lot of new mechanics... I have a feeling that many of them will get the better of you in more ways than your sanity simply running out ;) You'll have to learn their quirks...

I've tried some different things with the new areas in this update... They should feel much more open than anything else in the game so far, with multiple sub-sections, branching paths, etc. You'll see. I also tried to make them look really pretty! I put more effort into these new locations than anything else in the game so far... I am excited for people to finally see them.

Normally in the past, I've graced updates with patch notes. I don't think I'm going to bother with that this time. I'd rather you just play and see the things in the update. I just want to talk to you, because this update has been an insanely steep learning curve with a lot of hurdles and challenges... And a lot of changes in my mindset.

First, expect some new bugs in this update. Lots of internal changes to existing systems, lots of new systems, etc. I am sorry in advance. I'll say that, I even employed some play testers during development to try and catch as many as we could. And we did catch quite a few. But there are certainly things that will have slipped through the cracks. I truly apologize if you encounter bugs that make things more frustrating for you.

Second, I want to explain my mindset, how I'm doing, and what I'm thinking. Yes, I'm going to be... Emotional. And talk about myself for a moment. I'm going to crash out a little bit too, so I'm sorry.

I care about this game a great deal, and have grown very attached to it. I want to make something that hasn't been done before, and I want it to be good. I have worked on this update nearly EVERY DAY since 0.3 dropped. There has hardly been a single day where I didn't at least do something for the game. I really, really care about it. Deeply and truly.

I've had a lot of fun working on it, building a world, and trying to make it immersive. I understand, at the end of the day, it's just a porn game... But it's much more than that to me. And I have a specific vision in mind. As the game and community continues to grow, I am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. Lot's of people want to see different things. Lot's of people want X to be in the game. Lot's of people wish the game was easier, Lot's wish that there were more of certain types of creatures/enemies, Lot's wish that you could escape from battles, or that battles were easier to avoid, etc.

I have an overwhelming feeling of wanting to meet expectations and deliver. But at the same time, something that I really would like people to understand is that, I can't please everyone. My game will never be perfect. And I have a specific vision in mind that will NEVER change. I would like to clarify a few things, including my stance and direction on the game:

-The game is meant to be hard, inconvenient, and unforgiving. I want it to be convincing. I know this isn't for everyone, but if you want to play a game where you are getting raped by various creatures, then I DON'T want them to go easy on you. I WANT them to feel like an actual threat that you have to respect. How does it feel like a convincingly oppressive world if things are EASY for you? Even if this logic introduces aspects such as grinding, player frustration, or feeling like your time is being wasted... I am sorry. None of these aspects are necessarily my intent, just an unfortunate side effect.

This is all just to say... You should EXPECT gameovers, tough encounters, and inconveniences in my game. They are there to challenge you, and make the enemies feel like imposing threats that want to keep you as a sex slave (and they will absolutely do so if you don't give it your all to resist that). I don't WANT typical conveniences such as saving from anywhere, or escaping from battles, because these take away from my efforts at INTENTIONALLY. TRYING. To make things OPPRESSIVE for the player. THAT IS THE POINT. You are SUPPOSED to feel cornered and helpless. I will never. Ever. Budge on this. So if you disagree with my position, I am sorry. But it is pointless to dispute otherwise with me.

-The game is exclusively "reverse rape." There will not be any scenes of the protagonist flipping the script. There will not be any male enemies. This game is entirely dedicated to bolstering a niche content that I have NEVER SEEN ANYWHERE ELSE. Which is, feral beasts, imposing monsters, and... anything else really, exploiting males. I have gone over this so many times. My entire game is founded on this as a basis. The thing that MOTIVATED me to make this game is seeing how differently male protagonists get treated compared to female protagonists in rape games, and how different the aggressors of those games look from each other. Female protagonist? You get a drooling, stupid zombie, and a dog from the street. Male protagonist? You get a cute waifu monstergirl. Well, not in this game. It is important for you to understand that.

And, I get that some people may just want to see the creatures of this game, but handled in a more consensual context. Other games exist for that. Yes, the creatures encountered in this game are still extremely niche, but there at least EXISTS content of them in other contexts. On other games. Let me remind you that this game is targeting a specific and very niche idea. Look at what I just said in the paragraph above. THAT is my main fixation, and it will NOT CHANGE.

-This is my game. I am not obligated to add or do anything that you may want to see. I am not stupid for deciding against implementing X or Y. And I am under no obligation to deliver a release within ANY defined period of time. PLEASE understand and respect these things. I just... Want to make my game, my way. If you feel different, I more than encourage you to make your own game, like truly and genuinely. Because I hope this game shows you that really, anyone can. I use AI. Rpgmaker is very easy to get into. Most of what I do does not require extensive knowledge, just some elbow grease and passion.

Please. My game is given to you for free. I started making this game more as a personal project, a personal way to right a wrong that I've interpreted if you will. It is for ME. I make it for ME. It is grounded in MY interests and wants. I willingly share it with YOU, because I can. But that does not mean that I am obligated, in any way WHATSOEVER, to adhere to what other people may want to see. I realize this sounds bad, and I am not saying that things like feedback don't matter... It actually matters a great deal, and has had a massive impact on the game so far. I simply want you to understand that I have the final say, end of.

All of that said... I am sorry if my game is not perfect for you. I am sorry if it has frustrating design at times, and I am sorry if it disappoints you in any way. I truly am. I want people to accept it for what it is. I put a lot of heart and soul into it, and I love it so much. I really, really just... Need people to understand my intent behind this game. These are the kinds of things that, even if a lot of people don't like them, I am not budging on them.

Whew. With that out of the way, let me move on to actually talking about the update a little bit more, and what it means for the future...

So, as I mentioned, the update likely has a lot of bugs. And I, unfortunately, have real life obligations. In the month of April, it will essentially be impossible for me to work on the game due to a lack of free-time. For the entire month. It's not burnout or anything like that! It's an unwilling break that I am having forced upon me by real-life obligations.

With these things in mind, I want to treat 0.4 as a "test build." And all of my free time from NOW, until right before APRIL, is dedicated to polishing what exists. Right at the end of March, I will release a "0.45" version with all of the bug-fixes, polish and changes. And maybe a few more optional enemy encounters, amongst other things. I feel comfortable and safe setting a defined date for this, because it's simply... What I get done in that timeframe. There is no specific goalpost.

0.4 is likely a bit broken in some ways. But it's okay. There is a plan of attack to resolve this. I am hoping that by the end of March, any glaring issues with the game are fixed, and I am able to up the quality of early areas and whatnot to match what the 0.4 areas have. Because oh, that's another thing, I want to completely rework the early game yet again. With a bit more effort this time. I also am considering redoing some more existing enemies... I just want every aspect to be as perfect as I can make it. So that's the plan. Make the current, existing experience better.

I know this may be kind of lame to hear for some, but I want the game to be of as high-quality as I can manage from start to finish... This is a necessary step to ensure that. I also think first impressions are very important, and the start of the game does not make the best of first impressions, in my opinion.

Now... I know I just crashed out on you (sry), but I also have a donation page set up now. If you really love what this game stands for, feel free to donate to me. I would deeply appreciate it and it would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside to see that people care that much about my game, to the point they are willing to financially support it. But, let me establish some clarifications behind what purpose donations serve:

-I have zero plans to ever make the game cost anything, or lock it behind monthly subscriptions for "early access to new updates," "dev process," blah blah blah... Nope. There will be zero benefit to you donating. That is not because I don't appreciate the people that would (I do, more than you know)... I just don't want people to feel like they HAVE to. This game will ALWAYS BE FREE.

-I'm not entirely selfless though, because I also just don't want to create a stressful obligation for myself to deliver something when people pay and expect a product in return within X amount of time or whatever.

-So... Why donate? Well, like I said, you get nothing out of it. I would only want people to donate because they want to show support for the game. Please, only donate if you WANT to. There is no obligation or requirement for you to do so. I really just want the game to be accessible to everyone.

-That said, donations can directly help the game. I would be trying to use the donations by putting them right back into the game as much as I could. Both out of respect for your kindness, and the game itself. I have little intentions to try and pocket anything off of a donation page... And I hope my mentality above made it clear enough that I seriously do not care about making money off of this game lol.

So, what can donation money be used on to help the game...? Well, I want to be COMPLETELY transparent because I am talking about what other peoples money would be spent on. You should know what you are funding as far as the game goes. Unless I got enough donations to straight up commission a nsfw artist to make a whole enemies worth of animations or something, It is unlikely that donations will have much of an impact on the lewd parts of the game. Instead, it would be finer details that add a lot of polish or life to the game. Simplest example - The running sprites that the MC gets in 0.4. These cost me money to implement since I had to commission them, but man I love them. It's a small thing but I feel like running is so much more satisfying with those sprites. But yes, it costs $$$ to make that kind of thing happen. This is again maybe a little lame to hear, but I just want to be transparent with what you could expect your money to be spent on if you wanted to donate to the game.

There. I think that's it. Honestly, there's so much more I COULD say, but I got the important stuff out. Thank you for caring about my game, truly. More to come...

0.45, feedback form review, and an unfortunate departure.

Hello. I guess the time has finally come. This will be a multi-purpose blogpost.  I have a lot to talk about here... First, here is 0.45: ...
